Dr. Jun Ni is the founder and President of Medix Computing LLC, a private consulting company focused on providing computational solutions for private and public organizations. He has experiences ranging from research in Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) to delivering technical consulting solutions for various customers across universities and private companies.


Jun was formerly a faculty member at the University of Iowa, holding professorships in Radiology, Computer Science, Biomendical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. His primary focus throughout his 30 years of experience was computational science and engineering, specifically working with mathematical modeling and simulation, data analysis and visualization, and computing system architectural design. During that time, Dr. Ni also worked as a senior computing consultant, computational scientist and manager for the university. He has previously served on the committee of the Great Lakes Consortium for Petascale Computation and the Coalition for Academic Scientific Computation, both from 2005 to 2010.


In addition to his academic work, Jun has collaborated with and consulted for both Microsoft and Intel in the areas of High Performance Computing (HPC) based medical imaging and nanotechnology since 2007. Other minor collaborations include NVidia, Toshiba, and IBM.

 

Dr. Jun Ni received a BS in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding from Harbin Engineering University in 1982, a MS in Power Machinery Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1984, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Iowa in 1991. These were followed by postdoc experiences at The University of Iowa and Purdue University in 1993 and 1994.
